Description
For the first time in history, Lima superpower steam was rolling over the PRR railroad for the purpose of service on the railroad, (the last time it happened, the C&O had lent a T1 2-10-4 Texas for testing by the PRR... that led to Pennsy building 125 near duplicate Class J1 and J1a 2-10-4's for service during World War II).
This shot was specifically planned as an attempt to duplicate the old N&W publicity shot of the Class J 4-8-4 with matching streamlined "Powhatten Arrow" train: www.pinterest.com/pin/14383378… . (I'm PRAYING for an NKP765, SOU4501, N&W611, SOU604 steam family photo somewhere before the current NS steam program concludes.)
So... how'd I do? I know it isn't an exact match, but that photographer was on the property with company permission. I was still on company property, but doing my best not to get into any location which would be construed as presenting a safety hazard. I gave up a whole bunch of photos both years in order to be a "good railfan". It was painful to let those shots go by, but it is required as a good railfan-nation-citizen.
