Description

First, the copyright disclaimers. I DID NOT DRAW THESE PICTURES. I only "painted" them. The Drawings are copyright by Joshua Moldover from paintshop.railfan.net I used the "EMD E8A Phase I" and "Pullman-Standard Streamlined Coach" individual drawings and put them together into a solid picture before painting. Normally I would have "coupled" them together & edited the drawings to make it look like they were actually coupled up. Since this started as just a demo of an idea, I didn't on this one. I do NOT claim copyright on the drawings, but I do claim copyright on the design of the paint scheme. The logo of course belongs to whichever railroad now owns the Conrail rights.

This paint scheme was inspired by an image shared on Facebook of the CR4022 and a short train crossing the Rockville Bridge. The 4022 and several of the OCS cars were painted in conrail freight blue. I never was a fan of the brunswick green/gold scheme and this picture made me think how to use the freight blue in a scheme for the OCS. This DA submission Conrail Quality had also caught my eye a while ago. When I saw the image, the details coalesced into the idea: Freight blue, with an SD80MAC style nose design. Unlike the 80MACs, on the OCS, the white panels would continue the length of the train. My original plan had been to trim them in red, but since red does not meet FRA reflective requirements, I switched it to white.

The white banner along the cars is remeniscent of the two-tone green Southern Crescent paint scheme, which is ironic since L. Stanley Crane had previously been on the Southern Railway before coming to Conrail. The car name & railroad letterboards are painted dark blue and gold leaf lettering is used. The railroad is spelled out as "Consolidated Railroad Corporation" and in this case, I demo'd CR#2; the car name is "L. Stanley Crane"... the second CEO of Conrail.

It would have been grand! I'm glad I was able to provide some inspiration.
